Horseback riding / 3h

This tour will uncover the exotic secrets that lie within this secondary rainforest. You will ride through the mountains without reaching the mountain top. Your horse ride lasts approximately 2 and a half hours roundtrip and it will be highlighted by views of the valley, verdant vegetation and numerous wildlife species such as birds and reptiles.

At the end of the trail there is a beautiful waterfall where you will be able to rest for about 30 minutes. You can lounge on the grass or take a swim. You will then return retracing the same route.

There are two keychains to the front door for our guests to use. One of them has a remote control for the alarm, both of them have a wooden magnet pads attached to the keychain. *There is a $500 charge for a lost keychain and or a lost key.

3. Magnet System:

The Garden House has an energy saving system similar to many hotel rooms. Each keychain has a wooden pad with a magnet in it. This magnet needs to be placed on the magnet pad located next to the alarm control panel. If the wooden magnet pad is not attached, then the lights in the upper floors and the air conditioners will not work.

4. Alarm:

Please always turn the alarm on when you leave the house and when you go to bed. To set the alarm when you go to sleep, you should set the alarm by using the remote control on the keychain. You can press the button that has the man in between the parenthesis. This will arm all of the magnets on the doors and windows, but leave the motion sensors off. To set the alarm to leave the house using the remote control, you can push the button that has the lock symbol. To turn off the alarm using the remote control, you can push the button that has the unlock symbol.

To set the alarm using the keypad in the house, you can enter the code 1379 after everything is closed (when all the doors and windows are closed, you will get a green color in the check box on the alarm control panel). If you need to call the internal Tulemar shuttle van then you can dial “0” from this phone to call for the shuttle to pick you up at the house.

7. Tulemar Shuttle:

Our neighbors are building a house in front of us. They do have strict hours that they are allowed to work, the hours are below. If for some reason the hours are not being followed please let me know. The workers are allowed to work from 7am to 6pm Monday through Friday. But they are not allowed to make any loud construction noise from 7am to 8am or from 5pm to 6pm. And the workers should not be on site before 7am or after 6pm.

18. Pool:

The pool lights are on a timer. They should turn on at 6pm and turn off at 10pm. The pool has two pumps, one for the main pool area and one for the infinity edge. The infinity edge pump runs from 10am to 5pm. The other pump has similar hours. So when the infinity pump is not running the pool water level will be a few inches below the infinity edge.

You won’t regret this choice. We chose the Garden House because of the bedrooms and baths and of course the pool that had amazing space around it to lounge. We weren’t disappointed and got so much more. We had sloths, monkeys and of course the view. The house is perfect, and Asher was extremely helpful with answering my millions of questions prior to getting there. Myra the housekeeper, is perfect and does everything including laundry, Tito was our concierge and cooked for us, the food was great. Having access to the resort and its amenities was a plus.

Our extended family, 3 families – 6 adults and 4 children from ages 6 to 11, stayed at the Garden House for a week in April and it was amazing. The house is beautiful, very clean and well cared for. The view to the west of the ocean was breathtaking with amazing sunsets every evening. The pool was very clean and toys were available for our children, who spent most of their home time in the pool. Each day we were visited by white face or howler monkeys, macaws, iguanas, humming birds, sloths and many other animals. Asher and Beverly were easy to work with and Asher set us up on trips to Manuel Antonio park, rafting and a hike to a waterfall as well as our airport transportation. All the tours were wonderful however we saw the same, if not more, wildlife in Tulemar compared to the trip to Manuel Antonio park. We decided to hire a chef, Tito, for the week and were glad we did it. Tito made amazing food, including catering to our daughter’s food allergies and overall was lower cost and much easier than a group of 10 eating out. Tito was a great resource serving as the local concierge and helped us find stores, taught us about local customs/foods/drinks, and even helped arrange an impromptu surfing trip. Tito also serves as the local handy man and helped us with a few minor issues. Mayra the housekeeper is amazing and surprised us by washing our dirty laundry everyday! The Tulemar beach was very private and uncrowded and we had a blast boogie boarding. The Tulemar staff, especially Jorge the shuttle driver and David the beach attendant, were very friendly and went out of their way to help and make our stay wonderful. The only negative about this trip is that it came to an end.
